 
PC ARPA/NS & LAN MANAGER 2.2 CLIENT COMPATIBILITY
 
 
This article is a statement regarding support of PC ARPA/NS 2.5 and
LAN Manager 2.2 clients.
 
The PC ARPA/NS product, J2246A, version C.00.00 (internally known as
PC ARPA/NS 2.5), has been successfully tested with LAN Manager 2.2
clients.  However, the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file must be checked.  A minor
edit of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file might be necessary PRIOR to the
installation of the PC ARPA/NS product.

If the first and last lines have version 2.1, no edits are necessary.
The PC ARPA/NS product can now be installed.
 
If the first and last lines have version 2.2, edit the file and change
all 2.2's in the REM statements to 2.1's.  Then install the PC ARPA/NS
product.  There are no plans, at the current time, to fix the installer.

Previous versions of the PC ARPA/NS product are NOT supported with
LAN Manager 2.2 clients:
 
  o  D1811B  HP Network Services 2.1/MS-DOS
  o  D1812B  HP ARPA Services 2.1/MS-DOS
 
Customers using these products with LAN Manager clients 2.1 and later
must obtain J2246A PC ARPA/NS Services.  Upgrade pricing options are
